At Alabama ONE, we believe in financial health, and that begins with our young people.
Teens need to practice their money management skills in a safe environment. Parents want their teen to have financial independence, but still have visibility and control. The Next Step Teen Account is a checking account with two unique experiences.
Introducing Alabama ONE Next Step Teen Checking
The Teen Account provides safeguards to help teens age 13-17 practice money management skills without having to stress. Both parent and teen will have access to online banking, text notifications, and a mobile app, so that healthy saving and spending habits can be developed. It’s easy to use and fast to set up.
Access to a free checking account
Access to a membership savings account
A credit-union-issued debit MasterCard for easy access to funds
If you currently have a custodial or minor account, formerly known as a "Berenstain Bears Cub" account, you can easily transfer to Teen Account by calling or visiting one of our branches.
Already Have a Minor or Custodial Account?
You can transition any existing Minor or Custodial Account to a Teen Account at age 13. This transition allows for a safe passageway into adult financial wellness and provides skills that will last a lifetime.
You don’t need to click “Apply Now” and do not have to go through new member set up.
You can easily transfer an existing account and you will maintain your current Member ID.
To convert an accountyou will need to visit an Alabama ONE branch or call 1-800-225-0110 and speak to a team member.
Opening a New Account is Easy!
You can apply online or visit any Alabama ONE branch. The Next Step Teen Account requires the parent or legal guardian to be the joint owner, so they must be present when opening the account.
