Notice of Nomination of Volunteer Officers

Our Annual Meeting has been scheduled for 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2023

We will have a virtual annual meeting this year to protect our members, TEAM members, and volunteers. Please visit this annual meeting page on our website for information and updates. The link to register for the meeting through Zoom will be communicated at a later date.

Three positions for the Board of Directors and one position on the Supervisory Committee are available for election this year. The secretary of the credit union shall ensure that nominations by petition, along with those of the nominating committee, are posted in a conspicuous public place in each credit union office at least 35 days before the annual meeting.

Nominations by Petition

Nominations may also be made by petition signed by 500 members of the credit union per nominee. There shall be no petitions by proxy, nor may members sign blank petitions (candidates name omitted). All signatures are subject to proper validation by procedures approved by the secretary of the credit union. Each nominee by petition shall submit the following:

  • A brief statement of qualifications and biographical data in a form approved by the Board of Directors with the petition. A petition form can be requested by emailing ComplianceDept@alabamaone.org or by contacting our Compliance & Risk Department at 800.225.0110

  • Nominations by petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee stating that he or she is agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office.

The deadline for filing nominations by petition with the secretary of the credit union shall be 30 days from the date the nominations made by the nominating committee are provided to the members, which is March 3, 2023. Nominations may be filed at the Main Office 1215 Veterans Memorial Parkway Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, Attention: Tamika Alexander, Board Secretary.

Nominations by the Board

The Board appointed the Corporate Governance Committee to act as the Nominating Committee. The committee met on December 14, 2022. The committee nominated Tamika Alexander, Lucy Sellers, and Fred Braswell to serve a 3-year term on the Board of Directors, and David Loe was nominated to serve a 3-year term on the Supervisory Committee. All four nominees are currently serving as volunteers and are members of Alabama ONE. Information on each nominee is stated below:

Board of Director Nominations

Tamika Alexander
Ms. Alexander is an award-winning journalist who is the Senior News Anchor at WVUA 23 television station in Tuscaloosa. She is an active member of several organizations including City of Tuscaloosa Elevate Advisory Committee, and she is a graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa. In 2017, Tamika was featured in Tuscaloosa Magazine as a Most Intriguing Person. The following year, she was recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 Business Professional by The Tuscaloosa News. In 2020, Ms. Alexander was recognized by U.S. Representative Terri Sewell as a COVID 19 hero for her work with helping those in need during the pandemic. In March of 2022, she was named a Power Mover by Alabama Power. Ms. Alexander grew up in Tuscaloosa and received a degree in Communications from the University of Alabama and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Journalism and Creative Media at the University of Alabama.
Lucy Sellers
 
Lucy Sellers
Mrs. Sellers obtained her B.S. degree from the University of Alabama in 1978. She worked for the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education for 38 years, where she served as a teacher, assistant principal, reading coach, and principal. She was the principal for Northport Elementary School from 2008-2016 and was named Northport Educator of the year by West Alabama Chamber of Commerce in 2013. Also, the Northport City Council proclaimed April 30, 2016, as Lucy Sellers Day. Mrs. Sellers retired from the Tuscaloosa County BOE in 2016 and currently resides in Tuscaloosa.
Fred Braswell
Fred Braswell
Mr. Braswell served as the CEO/President of Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA) and has been a member of Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union for nineteen years. Before joining AREA, he had extensive experience in economic development, state, local and national government affairs, holding offices within the Alabama Department of Energy, Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Alabama Development Office (now the Department of Commerce), and Russell Corporation. Mr. Braswell maintains high involvement in his local community, serving on the Executive Committee of PARCA and Auburn University School of Liberal Arts Advisory Council as well as holding past tenures on other community boards and committees. He has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Auburn University and a Juris Doctorate from Jones School of Law. Mr. Braswell retired from AREA as the CEO/President in 2021.

Supervisory Committee Nominations

David Loe
David Loe
Mr. Loe began his career at Black Warrior Electric Membership Cooperative in 1975 as a general accountant, progressing through the years as Manager of Purchasing and Work Orders, Manager of Data Processing, and finally as the Office Manager before being recruited as the Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services at Central Alabama Electric Cooperative, where he stayed from May 1999 until his retirement in March 2018. Mr. Loe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of West Alabama and a Master of Business Administration degree from Mississippi State University. He is active in the community, serving as a member of Rotary Club, and as the Treasurer of the Blue Gray National Collegiate Tennis Tournament, and previously on the Board of Leadership Autauga County as the Treasurer.
