Our Financial Wellness TEAM is heavily involved in our community, offering ONE – on – ONE financial coaching, live events and webinars, financial literacy programs in local schools, weekly tips on our new FinTalk Weekly Podcast, and more.
The Alabama ONE Foundation provides several scholarships for both traditional and nontraditional students, including the A.E.Y. Scholarship and the Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union Scholarship.
Biz Kid$ is a national financial literacy initiative based on the Emmy Award-winning public television series where kids teach kids about money and business. This program includes free classroom curriculum and an annual competition for children aged 9 – 16.
Congratulations to Jada Williams, sponsored by Alabama ONE, for winning the 2020 Biz Kid$ Challenge! Jada triumphed over 200 students across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida with her photography business.
The Financial Fitness Tournament is an annual program hosted by the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation. Competitions in March and April determine regional champions; each regional champion then competes online to achieve an overall Financial Fitness score. In June, the top team from each state and two additional highest scoring teams move on to compete for the League Championship at the Southeast Credit Union Conference & Expo live in Orlando.
We are proud that two Alabama ONE – sponsored students place in the 2020 tournament. Will Hinds placed 1st with a $1,000 prize and Vaneeza Rupani placed 2nd with a $500 prize. More than 50 students across Alabama, Florida, and Georgia competed in 2020.
Adopt-a-School is a joint partnership between the The Chamber of West Alabama and Tuscaloosa City Schools to provide local businesses a platform to strengthen, enhance, and enrich the quality of education in Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa County. Alabama ONE is partnering with Northport Elementary School and Lake View Elementary School for the 2020 – 2021 school year.
We are proud to support charitable organizations that positively impact our community through sponsorships and donations. We will consider sponsorships to civic and charity events, programs and publications located within our communities served. We give primary consideration to nonprofit (i.e., 501c3) organizations in support of education, community involvement, and financial literacy.
Our guidelines help Alabama ONE assure that donations and sponsorship dollars are used in ways that best serve our communities. Alabama ONE may make exceptions when considering donations.
