Our Annual Meeting has been scheduled for 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. We will have a virtual annual meeting this year for greater access for our Members, TEAM members, and volunteers across the state. Three positions for the Board of Directors and one position on the Supervisory Committee are available for election this year. The secretary of the credit union shall ensure that nominations by petition, along with those of the nominating committee, are posted in a conspicuous public place in each credit union office at least 35 days before the annual meeting.
As part of the meeting, we will be electing Volunteer Members to the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Committee, according to our bylaws. Three positions for the Board of Directors and one position on the Supervisory Committee are available for election this year. The Secretary of the credit union shall ensure that nominations, if any, by petition, along with those of the Nominating Committee, are posted in a conspicuous public place in each credit union office at least 35 days before the annual meeting. There will be no nominations from the floor as the Nominating Committee provided nominees for each open position. In addition, there will be no election by ballot given there is only one nominee for each position to be filled.
The Board appointed the Corporate Governance Committee to act as the Nominating Committee. The committee met on January 18, 2024. The committee nominated Shelia Penn, BJ Stabler, and Bill Warren to serve a 3-year term on the Board of Directors, and Ed Williamson was nominated to serve a 3-year term on the Supervisory Committee. All four nominees are currently serving as volunteers and are members of Alabama ONE. Information on each nominee can be found below:
Ms. Penn recently retired in October 2018 as the Facility Director of Bryce Hospital. She began her career as a nurse in the Department of Mental Health, serving in various positions at Bryce Hospital, Harper Geriatric Psychiatry Center, and Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility. Ms. Penn serves the community in various organizations and is currently the Chapter President of the Central Alabama Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
With degrees in Business Administration and Family Financial Planning, BJ has spent his career helping football players be engaged and prepared off the field in multiple football organizations. Prior to returning to Alabama, BJ spent 8 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs as the Director of Player Engagement, helping new recruits and those leaving the NFL be prepared on the business-side of the sport, among other player engagement programs. After a three-season letter winner career at Alabama on the offensive line, BJ spent time serving in recruitment and game day operations for the Alabama and Georgia State University programs. In his current role, he develops programs, events, and reunions to help former University of Alabama athletes stay connected to their alma mater.
William “Bill” Warren began his career in 1973 with US Steel and held multiple positions within the company over 31 years. After retiring, he began a new career in the fire service, rising through the ranks from Firefighter/EMT to his most recent role before retiring as the Logistics and Property Manager for Alabama Fire College. In addition, Mr. Warren currently owns and operates Warren Private Investigator Services, est. 2006, Warren Ranch, and has owned and sold several successful businesses throughout his career. He serves as a board member for the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, he is the Vice President of the Pediatric Burn Foundation of America, the Vice President of Child and Senior Advocacy Foundation, and as the President of the Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority. Bill is also a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church, the Alabama Cattleman’s Association, and the Alabama Farmer’s Federation. Mr. Warren is originally from Jefferson County and currently resides in Cedar Bluff, Alabama.
Ed Williamson is the CFO of Clarke-Washington Electric Membership Corporation. He is responsible for all of the financial operations of the Corporation, as well as all financial reporting. Ed has more than 28 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Prior to joining Clarke-Washington, Ed was with the audit and accounting firm, Jackson Thornton. Ed performed audit and accounting services for the Firm’s RUS -TVA utility clients. He was with the Firm for more than 23 years with most of his work concentrated in the electric distribution industry. Ed has participated in numerous utility-related training courses and participated in all levels of management consulting to the electric distribution industry. Ed was an instructor for numerous utility accounting courses and served as a speaker for various electric distribution training conferences. Ed lives in Brewton, Alabama and is married to Leslie Williamson. He has two Children, Drew (23) and Caroline (18).
