Mission & Values

Alabama ONE will be a partner to the members and community we serve by maintaining a foundation of trust, a commitment to service and a desire to promote financial security for all.

It is no secret to say that most checking accounts are kind of the same. They are one of the primary tools for managing your finances. What makes a checking account different, though, is who offers it. How easy do they make it? How much do they charge you for it? What limitations do they put on it?
Our checking account is free. Online Banking is free. The e-ONE mobile app is free. There are no minimum balances and you even get a free debit card.

Alabama ONE Field of Membership

Our History

Alabama ONE was chartered in 1951 as the TRW Federal Credit Union. The name was changed to BF Goodrich Employees Federal Credit Union on July 18, 1973, and remained that through many years of growth and prosperity. In early 2001, BF Goodrich Employees Federal Credit Union was granted the status of a Community Credit Union. Membership was subsequently opened to all who live, work, worship or are educated in Tuscaloosa and Pickens Counties. In early 2009, the Credit Union was renamed Alabama ONE Credit Union.

Today, Alabama ONE Credit Union is a $1 billion-dollar, full-service financial institution currently with 27 branches serving more than 79,000 residents of Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Mobile, Jefferson and 18 other counties, including Fayette, Walker, Bibb, Hale, Greene, Lamar, Washington, Baldwin, Monroe, Escambia, Choctaw, Clarke, Wilcox, Marengo, Sumter, Morgan, Montgomery, and Shelby. It is still a member-owned organization with each member sharing equally in that ownership.

Annual membership meetings are held to give progress reports, elect a board of directors, a supervisory committee, and conduct credit union business. The board of directors appoints committees to oversee the credit union. All board members and committee members are volunteers and receive no compensation for their service.

In 2020, Alabama ONE welcomed Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union, organized in 1969 to serve the 23 Alabama Rural Electric Cooperatives, their employees, and members across Alabama, to our Alabama ONE family. Together, Alabama ONE and ARECU, in both services offered and geographic presence, offer an unparalleled field of membership and opportunities to serve communities across Alabama.

In 2021, we bought First Bank of Linden to become our Marengo Branch, as well as opened additional branches in Alberta, Lake View, and Centre. In 2023, to further expand our statewide franchise, Alabama ONE has continued to pursue additional acquisitions and branches, including First Bank of Wadley, credit unions in Brewton and McIntosh, and new sites across the state. We want to better serve our members, wherever they live or work, to the best of our ability.

Alabama ONE is now a statewide franchise reaching 63 of the 67 counties in Alabama. Alabama ONE provides a unique offering of consumer and business-related products, as well as wealth management and an in-house insurance agency. Alabama ONE is dedicated to giving Members the resources they need to build the strong financial future they deserve.
