Annual Meeting Notice

Notice of Nomination of Volunteer Officers

Our Annual Meeting has been scheduled for 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Bryant Conference Center. We will also have the meeting virtually as a matter of convenience to our members across the state. The link to register for the meeting will be communicated at a later date.

Three positions for the Board of Directors and one position on the Supervisory Committee are available for election this year. The secretary of the credit union shall ensure that nominations by petition, along with those of the nominating committee, are posted in a conspicuous public place in each credit union office at least 35 days before the annual meeting.

Nominations by Petition
Nominations may also be made by petition signed by 500 members of the credit union per nominee. There shall be no petitions by proxy, nor may members sign blank petitions (candidates name omitted). All signatures are subject to proper validation by procedures approved by the secretary of the credit union. Each nominee by petition shall submit the following:

  • A brief statement of qualifications and biographical data in a form approved by the Board of Directors with the petition. A petition form can be requested by emailing ComplianceDept@alabamaone.org or by contacting our Compliance & Risk Department at (800) 225-0110.
  • Nominations by petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee stating that he or she is agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office.

The deadline for filing nominations by petition with the secretary of the credit union shall be February 4, 2026, which is the deadline previously provided to our members. Nominations may be filed at the Main Office 1215 Veterans Memorial Parkway Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, Attention: Ron Abernathy, Board Secretary.

Nominations by the Board
The Board appointed the Corporate Governance Committee to act as the Nominating Committee. The committee met on January 28, 2026. The committee nominated Tamika Alexander, Fred Braswell, and Lucy Sellers to serve a 3-year term on the Board of Directors and David Loe was nominated to serve a 3-year term on the Supervisory Committee. These nominees are currently serving as volunteers and are members of Alabama ONE. Information on each nominee is stated below:

Board of Director Nominations

Alexander
Tamika Alexander

Tamika Alexander is the evening anchor for WHNT News 19 in Huntsville. A Tuscaloosa native and University of Alabama graduate, she is pursuing a master’s in Journalism and Creative Media at UA. Tamika began her broadcasting career at WJRD (now WVUA 23), spending over 20 years as a producer, reporter, and anchor, and also worked with United Way West Alabama. She serves on the Tuscaloosa Elevate Advisory Committee and West Alabama Chamber councils and is a Leadership Tuscaloosa graduate. Her honors include Most Intriguing Person, Top 40 Under 40, COVID-19 Hero, and Alabama Power’s Power Mover. Outside work, she enjoys being mom to her son, Jayden.

Braswell
Fred Braswell

Fred Braswell served as CEO/President of Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA) and has been a member of Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union for 27 years. Before AREA, he held leadership roles in economic development and government affairs with the Alabama Department of Energy, ADECA, Alabama Development Office (now Commerce), and Russell Corporation. Fred serves on PARCA’s Executive Committee and Auburn University’s Liberal Arts Advisory Council, with past service on numerous boards. He holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Auburn University and a Juris Doctor from Jones School of Law. Fred is married to Sandra.

Sellers
Lucy Sellers

Lucy earned her B.S., M.A., and E.D.A. degrees from The University of Alabama in 1978. She served the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education for 38 years as a teacher, assistant principal, reading coach, and principal, leading Northport Elementary from 2008–2016. In 2013, she was named Northport Educator of the Year by the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, and April 30, 2016, was proclaimed “Lucy Sellers Day” by the Northport City Council. Since retiring in 2016, she has worked with Alabama’s Department of Early Childhood Education in the Pre-K Initiative. Lucy lives in Tuscaloosa with her husband, Lee, and has two children and nine grandchildren.

Loe
David Loe

David began his career at Black Warrior EMC in 1975 as a general accountant, later serving as Manager of Purchasing & Work Orders, Data Processing, and Office Manager. In 1999, he became Vice President of Finance & Corporate Services at Central Alabama EC, retiring in March 2018. He holds a BS in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis from the University of West Alabama and an MBA from Mississippi State. Active in his community, David serves on the Blue Gray National Collegiate Tennis Tournament board and previously was Treasurer for Leadership Autauga County. He is also a former Rotary Club member.
